Custom printed labels that are built around your brand

Your products, packaging and brand are unique, and we think your labels should be too. Kingfisher Labels is a UK custom label manufacturer based in Bristol, designing, engineering and producing custom printed labels around your exact requirements, not ours. From shape, size and materials to colours, finishes and adhesives, every detail is tailored to your product and how it's used.

Whether you're a start-up launching your first product or an established manufacturer managing hundreds of SKUs, we'll help you create custom labels that look exceptional, perform flawlessly and support your commercial goals. New to ordering? Read our guide to choosing custom labels.

Custom Printed Labels

What are custom printed labels?

Custom printed labels are produced to your exact specification rather than a standard template. You choose the size, shape, material, adhesive, print colours and finish and we apply the right print technology, whether digital or flexographic, to deliver the result your product needs.

Every label we produce at our Bristol factory is designed to perform in the real world: to apply cleanly to your chosen container, withstand its environment throughout its shelf life, remain legible, and meet any sector-specific requirements your product is subject to.

We have been producing custom labels for UK brands since 1996 across food and drink, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, chemical, industrial and promotional sectors.

Why choose custom printed labels?

Built around your specification, not ours

First impressions matter. Custom labels give you complete control over how your product looks and feels. From bold colours and photographic imagery to minimalist designs with premium finishes, we help you translate your brand identity into labels that stand out on crowded shelves and screens.

Labels engineered for your product and environment

We match materials and adhesives to your product's specific environment: chilled, frozen, wet, oily, outdoor, squeezable containers, curved or unusual shapes. Whether you need waterproof labels for bottles, chemical-resistant drum labels or cosmetics labels that resist scuffing, we recommend a construction that works in practice. Our team has been solving label specification challenges for UK manufacturers since 1996.

Choose from digital or flexographic printing

Because we offer both high-quality Digital Label Printing and flexographic printing in-house, we can match the proper process to your run length, budget and timescales. Digital is unbeatable for short runs, multiple variants and fast turnaround, while flexo comes into its own on very high volumes where unit cost is critical. See our Long Run Label Printing service for high-volume work.

Our team will advise you honestly on which method is best for your project, and many customers use a combination of both across their product ranges.

Flexible for every stage of your growth

Custom printed labels are ideal whether you need 500 labels for a new product trial or hundreds of thousands for a nationwide launch. Start small, refine your design, then scale with confidence as demand grows.

Meet compliance and retailer requirements.

Many sectors require labels to carry ingredient listings, allergen information, safety warnings, batch codes, barcodes and regulatory statements. We produce custom printed labels with the space, print clarity and material durability to support your compliance needs, across food, beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors.

Design freedom: shape, size, finishes and more

Any size, any shape

Rectangles, circles, ovals, wraparound labels, multi-part sets, or completely custom die-cut shapes—if you can imagine it, we can probably cut it.

Custom tooling options give you freedom over how your labels fit containers and create impact.

Premium finishes that elevate your product

Enhance your custom labels with a wide choice of finishes:

  • Matt, gloss or satin varnishes
  • Spot varnish to highlight key design elements
  • Lamination for extra durability and protection
  • Foils and metallic effects for a luxury feel
  • Embossed or tactile finishes for sensory impact

Variable data and personalisation

Your custom labels can go further with variable data printing, unique barcodes, QR codes, batch/lot numbers, sequential numbering, individual names or personalised messages.

Perfect for competitions, traceability, or one-to-one marketing campaigns.

Labels that stick. Relationships that last.

Choosing the right material for your custom labels

The material your label is printed on affects everything, how it looks, how it applies and how it performs.

We work with paper stocks for ambient food and beverage products, polypropylene labels for wet or oily environments, and clear transparent labels for a no-label look on glass or rigid plastic.

We will help you choose the right substrate and adhesive combination for your product and its environment, whether that is a permanent food-safe adhesive, a removable adhesive for retail promotions, or a high-tack construction for industrial application.

Choosing the right print method for your custom labels

Every custom label job comes down to one early decision: digital or flexographic. Digital suits shorter runs, multiple variants and artwork that changes often, because there are no printing plates to make. Flexographic comes into its own on high volumes, where the plate cost is spread across enough labels to bring the unit price down.

You do not have to choose in advance. We will look at your run length, your number of variants and how often the artwork changes, then tell you honestly which route costs less. Plenty of customers use both across a single product range. If you already know you need fast turnaround on shorter runs, our Digital Label Printing page covers that process in detail.

Cost-effective custom labels for every run size

Custom doesn’t have to mean costly. By combining efficient digital printing for short runs and flexographic printing for long runs, we keep your unit prices competitive at every stage. Order only what you need, reduce waste and avoid tying up cash in obsolete stock.

For brands with multiple variants, we can often gang-run different SKUs together to make production more efficient and reduce your per-label cost.

Digital Label Printing

Custom Printed Labels: Frequently Asked Questions

What can I customise on a printed label?

Size, shape, material, adhesive, print colours and finish. We then apply the right print technology, digital or flexographic, to deliver the result your product needs.

What is the smallest run you can print?

Digital printing starts from runs as low as 100 labels, which makes product trials and multiple variants practical. Flexographic printing comes into its own on very high volumes where unit cost is critical.

Digital or flexographic, which should I choose?

We run both in-house, so we are not tied to one approach. Digital suits short runs, multiple variants and fast turnaround. Flexo suits very high volumes. Many customers use a combination across their product ranges, and we will advise you honestly on which fits your run length, budget and timescales.

Can you supply labels that survive chilled, wet or outdoor conditions?

Yes. We match materials and adhesives to your product's environment, including chilled, frozen, wet, oily and outdoor conditions, and squeezable, curved or unusually shaped containers.

How quickly can I get my labels?

Digital runs are usually with you in days rather than weeks. Timescales for larger flexographic runs depend on the specification, so tell us your deadline at the brief and we will confirm what is achievable.

Can custom labels carry allergen, safety and batch information?

Yes. We produce labels with the space, print clarity and material durability to support your compliance needs across food, beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, chemical and industrial sectors. Confirming what your label must carry remains your responsibility.

Sustainable choices for your custom labels

If sustainability is a priority, we can recommend environmentally responsible options, including recyclable materials, thinner substrates to reduce material usage, and constructions that support your broader packaging goals.

By printing only the quantities you need, especially when using digital we also help you cut down on waste from obsolete or unused labels.

We also help you cut down on waste from obsolete or unused labels. Kingfisher Labels is a Zero2Landfill member, and we can advise on label constructions that support your wider packaging sustainability commitments.

Our custom label production process

Consultation & specification

We start by understanding your product, application, environment and commercial objectives. From there, we recommend the right material, adhesive, print method and finish to deliver the performance and appearance you need, backed by our ISO 9001 accredited quality management system.

Artwork & pre-press

Already have artwork? We’ll check it for technical accuracy and flag any potential issues before printing. Need support? Our artwork team can help refine layouts, add mandatory information and prepare press-ready files.

Printing & finishing

We then produce your labels using our advanced digital or flexographic presses, followed by any chosen finishing—varnishing, laminating, foiling, or specialist effects. Precision die-cutting ensures labels apply and dispense cleanly on your lines.

Quality control & delivery

Every job is checked against your specification for colour, registration, legibility and finish before it leaves our factory. We can supply labels on rolls, sheets or fan-folded, matched to your labelling machinery and packing process.

Reorders made simple

Your specifications and artwork are securely stored, making repeat orders straightforward and consistent. Need a small change for a new batch or regulation update? We can amend and reprint quickly without starting from scratch.
