On June 26th, 2024, we were faced with the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Martin Jackson – an incredible, passionate man who co-founded Kingfisher Labels and continued to grow and improve the company over decades.

A month on, mourning our trusted friend and experienced Managing Director, we’d like to take a moment to remember his life and accomplishments…

A stand-out career

Martin was born in Blackburn on June 5th, 1950. His career began at Reed Paper Mills, and he then moved down to Bristol as a young man to produce paper bags at AJ Bingley Ltd.

In 1996, he made the courageous decision to swap steady employment for the establishment of his own business: Kingfisher Labels.

We’re pleased to report that his (no doubt well-calculated) leap of faith paid off.

In 2024, nearly 30 years later, we continue to thrive as a company and have grown into a multimillion-pound turnover operation.

A beloved family man

Though Martin Jackson was a dedicated, hard-working businessman and a valued colleague to all of us at Kingfisher, he was also far more than that.

He was funny, bubbly, and determined. When he laughed, it was hard not to join in.

He truly cared about other people, from loved ones to complete strangers. Anyone who knew him was better for it.

74 years old at the time of his death, he leaves behind a loving family in his wife, mother, son (our own Karl Jackson), daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. We send them all our deepest condolences at this difficult, heart-wrenching time.

The family are holding a private funeral for Martin.

Donations in his name can be made to the Bristol and Weston Hospitals Charity:

Honouring Martin’s efforts

So much of Kingfisher’s longevity, identity and success is down to Martin. Our M.D.’s customer-first approach to doing business is something we’ll strive to carry forward, honouring his high standards at every turn.

We thank our customers for their support regarding this challenging loss – and ask that thoughts and prayers be directed to Karl and his family.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
