Clear & Transparent Labels

See‑through labels that showcase your product

Clear, transparent labels give your packaging the no-label look, where the print appears to sit directly on the glass or plastic with no visible border. We print transparent labels on clear polypropylene and polyester films at our Bristol factory, for drinks bottles, cosmetics jars, household products and anything else where the container itself is part of the design.

At Kingfisher Labels, we produce clear transparent labels from our factory in Yate, Bristol, for brands across the food, beverage, cosmetics and personal care sectors. Whether you need a gloss finish for a premium product or a matt transparent label for a more understated look, we will help you specify the right material and finish for your packaging.

Clear & Transparent Labels

What are clear and transparent labels?

Clear and transparent labels are produced on film materials, typically clear polypropylene or clear polyester, rather than white paper or white film.

When applied, the label face is invisible and only the printed design is visible, giving the impression that the text and graphics are printed directly on the container.

This effect, widely known as the no-label look, is particularly effective on smooth glass and rigid plastic containers where the background shows through cleanly. It suits products where clarity, purity or natural ingredients are part of the brand message.

Clear labels are usually printed on a transparent Polypropylene Labels film, which stays flexible on squeezable containers and holds its clarity far better than a paper stock. For bottles that will sit in ice, in a fridge or outdoors, combine it with Waterproof Labels construction.

The no-label look is most popular in two places. Drinks brands use it across glass and PET, covered on our Labels for Beverage Bottles page, and beauty brands use it on jars and dropper bottles, covered on Labels for Cosmetic Products.

Finish choice changes the effect completely, so it is worth reading Matt & Gloss Labels before you specify. A metallic accent on clear film works particularly well with Foil Label Printing. We can print a sample first through Prototyping & Sample Labels.

Why choose clear and transparent labels?

Create a premium, no‑label look.

Clear and transparent labels offer a clean, modern aesthetic that’s highly sought after in the cosmetics, food and beverage industries. By allowing the product to shine through, you can create a sense of luxury, purity and transparency.

Highlight your product’s natural beauty.

If your product has a distinctive colour, texture or visual appeal, clear labels let you showcase it to its full advantage. This is particularly effective for products with natural ingredients, vibrant colours or unique formulations.

Achieve a minimalist design aesthetic.

Clear labels are perfect for minimalist designs that rely on clean lines, straightforward typography and negative space. By reducing visual clutter, you can create a sophisticated and understated look that appeals to discerning customers.

Waterproof and durable performance.

Clear polypropylene and polyester films are inherently moisture-resistant and hold up well to handling, condensation and light chemical exposure, making them a practical choice for chilled beverage labels and personal care products used in wet environments. We will advise on whether your application requires an additional laminate for extra protection.

Versatile application options.

Clear and transparent labels suit a wide range of packaging types. They are particularly popular for Labels for Beverage Bottles and Labels for Cosmetic Products, where the product itself is part of the visual appeal.

What can you use clear and transparent labels for?

Cosmetic and personal care products (shampoos, lotions, serums, essential oils)

Food and beverage packaging (juices, sauces, dressings, condiments, bottled water)

Household and cleaning products (sprays, detergents, polishes)

Condiment, sauce and dressing bottles where the product colour or texture is a selling point

Cost‑effective, clear label solutions

We understand that budget is a key consideration. Clear and transparent labels can be surprisingly affordable, primarily when you work with an experienced provider who understands how to optimise the process. We’ll help you balance your design goals with your budget, recommending the most cost‑effective materials and printing techniques for your specific needs. For smaller quantities or multiple design variations, digital printing offers a flexible and economical solution. For larger, recurring orders, flexographic printing can drive down your unit costs.

Clear transparent label options from Kingfisher Labels

Gloss and matt transparent finishes

Clear transparent labels are available with either a gloss or matt surface finish, and the choice makes a real difference to the end result. A gloss finish gives maximum clarity and a high-shine appearance well suited to beverage bottles and cosmetic packaging. A matt transparent finish creates a softer, frosted look that suits premium skincare, artisan food products and spirits. Both are available in polypropylene and polyester films. See our Matt & Gloss Labels page for more on finish options.

Polypropylene vs polyester film

The two most common films for clear transparent labels are polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PET). Polypropylene is the more widely used option: it is cost-effective, moisture-resistant and suits the majority of food, beverage and personal care applications. Polyester offers greater dimensional stability and higher temperature resistance, which makes it a better choice for labels applied to containers that go through a dishwasher cycle or experience significant temperature variation. We will recommend the right film for your product and application at the briefing stage.

White ink underprint for colour accuracy

On a clear film, colours print differently to how they appear on white stock. For designs with solid colour blocks or strong brand colours, we can print a layer of white ink beneath the design to give colours their full depth and accuracy. For a true no-label look where the background shows through, designs work best with no white underprint, using the product or container itself as the background.

Adhesive options for clear labels

Adhesive selection matters on clear labels because a milky or visible adhesive will undermine the no-label effect. We specify permanent or removable adhesives appropriate to the container material; glass, PET, HDPE or polypropylene, and the intended use. Permanent adhesives are standard for most product labelling. Removable adhesives are available for promotional applications where the label needs to come off cleanly.

Custom sizes and shapes

Clear transparent labels can be produced in any size and shape, from standard rectangles and ovals through to wrap-around labels and custom die-cut shapes that follow the contour of your packaging. Contact us with your container dimensions and we will advise on the most practical label size and shape.

The clear and transparent label printing process

Project consultation and material selection

We start by understanding your product, packaging and design goals. From there, we’ll recommend suitable clear film materials, adhesives and printing techniques and advise on any special considerations for reverse printing or white ink underprinting.

Artwork preparation and proofing

You can supply press‑ready artwork, or our in‑house team can help you create or refine your design. We’ll check your files, advise on any adjustments for the chosen material and printing process, and provide a digital proof – and physical samples where required – before we go to print.

Printing and finishing

Once approved, we print your clear and transparent labels using our state‑of‑the‑art presses, then apply any selected varnishes, laminates or special effects. Labels are then die‑cut, stripped and wound to your preferred roll size or sheet format, ready for hand or machine application.

Quality control and delivery

Every batch of labels is checked for clarity, adhesion, print quality and overall appearance before it leaves our factory. We then carefully pack and ship your labels so they arrive on time and in perfect condition.
